Removing wiper door solenoid on '69?

To remove and replace the wiper door solenoid (GM #5638276) that is mounted to the back of the tachometer in '69, does the whole left dash need to be removed? I am wondering if I could get at the bolts just by removing the steering column and/or loosening the dash. Anyone know of any tricks?

Lay on your back, head on a pillow, you can get to the screws that hold it to the back of the tachometer. Not much room, but it can be done.
