69 427 435 hp head gasket question

I believe the 69 L71's used a steel shim for a head gasket from the factory. Does anyone know the correct compressed thickness, and who sells these? Thanks, Mark

Yes, a steel shimmed head gasket was used for this application. It had a compressed thickness of 0.022". Originally GM #3863199 it was last available from GM under GM #330860. It's long since GM-discontinued.

You'll probably find NOS on eBay. I believe that Dr. Rebuild or Paragon may sell reproductions.
