    61-62 Rear Bumper Body Reinforcement

You know that long flat bar which is flush with the inside of the rear fiberglass and is between the rear bumper braces and the body? In the AIM it's called a bumper body reinforcement. I would like to remove it to clean it up and paint it but for the life of me I can't figure out how to remove it. I've been told it comes out. Has any one actually removed one? Any hints?... Do you have to rotate it to get it out or does it come out in the same orientation that it is mounted? Should it come out easy or do I need to use some force. Not really interested in cracking some fiberglass. Thanks!

    Rick.

It's been awhile but I don't remember having any trouble taking it out or putting it back in. Do you have all the bumper brackets and horseshoe off?

      Hi Terry,

Yes, everything has been removed: bumpers, bumper brackets, and license plate horseshoe. The rear end has never been hit.
