69 427. Did it use a oil slinger?

I'm putting my 69 l71 back together. It did not have a oil slinger on the front of the timing gear, when i took it apart. If i remember right, chevy quite using them in the early 60's? Would just like someone to confirm that my engine did indeed not use an oil slinger anymore, before i put the cover on. Thanks, mark

I think that 1958 was the last year an oil slinger was used on a small block. I don't think they were ever used on a big block.
