Bearings on my pump have quit. Is it possible for a DYI type person to replace them or am I locked into sending the pump to Bill Hodel?

Re: AIR pump bearings
IT can be done, the main bearing in the aluminum case is for lack of better word GLUED in place, the bearing is available, however you have to CUT the old one into 3-5 pieces in order to remove it then grind the glue out of the 2 slots in the case then glue the new one in place.
The bearing in the cast iron end is easily removed and replaced as well...
If you want to put the vane bearings in they are a little more difficult because the vanes are broken fairly easily.
You will need a press and a dremel or something like that to cut the bearing from the aluminum case.
The instructions on line are the ones I used to put new bearings in my original LT1 smog pump.James A Groome
