1957 Sill plate screws

Did the small sill plate at the rear have oval or pan head chrome screws . The one's that came out of the car are Chrome #8 screw with a #6 pan head.

Dan, I have seen your questions pertaining to various screw sizes and finishes for your interior work. I would just order what you need from the various suppliers such as Paragon, Corvette Central, etc. They have done the necessary research, produced the correct screw for the correct use and packaged them for your convenience. Make it easy on yourself and order what you need by description. Am I missing something here?

I did order them form Paragon and they were way . Corvette Central were good but the has #8 pan head screws had a #8 head and were not chromed . They may have been stainless . I did not try and polish them . I found some #8 Pan head stainless screws . I am going to turn the heads sown and polish them.Thanks for the reply.

Well that explains that. I am surprised that they were so far off, but nothing seems to surprise me anymore. Glad you were able to sort it all out.

See the thread below about 61-2 headlamp screws; if the screw is #8 X 5/8" with a #6 oval head (chrome) it's Au-we-co #1421 (or WAS) in Covington KY.

To clarify: waffle plate screw 455952 is NOT a pan head screw rather oval 1/2" long chrome cross recess tap screw. Loren could be right on with regards it's replacement.

To clarify, the screw that matches Dave's description in the 1968 parts book and the 1971 Standard Parts Book uses #9414752 at 1/2" long; the Au-ve-co #1421 is 5/8" long. I cannot find in my parts books (or parts histories) a #455952 listed - perhaps it is a "production only" part #?

Now we know why Bubba used pop rivets........
