1954 hood release too hard.

Hi all, im using repro male hood latches and they are REALLY hard to release. Have any of you had this issue and what did you do about it. Lubricate? Install original springs? Cut them? There is too much pressure. Thanks for your help

on the male side - on the hood - the repro springs are WAY too stiff
If you look at an original and a repro side by side
The OE spring in thinner and less coils
I buy OE male latches - and transfer the spring (if the latch is junk / pitted / etc....)
Changes springs and you will notice a HUGE difference

Thanks Chris, Ill do that. Should there be any kind of lubrication on the male post? silicone spray maybe to make it easier to pull?
