Re: New C-8 Reveal today in Rochester NY
My wife and I saw the car Friday at VanBortel's. We got there a little after 1:00 and cars were lined up and down the street It was a small traffic jam. The place was mobbed. They were letting in groups of 20 or 30 people every 20 minutes to see the car. Our wait time was 2 hours.
The dealership owner, Kitty VanBortel, was there talking to the crowd, but we did not.
Lots of Corvettes were there, but only saw 1 C1. A Lamborghini pulled in and 2 guys got out and walked up to the line.
They were giving out free food. Hots, hamburgers, Italian sausage, cold drinks and chips. Large tent set up.
I don't know how many cars they sold, but I could easily see 6 or 7 over the course of the 8 hours, which if so would be about a half a million dollars of revenue. Not bad for a one afternoon showing!
I thought they would be driving it from dealership to dealership, but apparently not so. There was a large black 5th wheel trailer parked outside that said 'Corvette' on it and had Kentucky license plates.
Gene's observations are accurate. Form your own opinions, but all and all it was a fun afternoon.
