When I shut the juice off, it runs on for 45 to 60 seconds, I thought it would stop right away, the second hand is fairly smooth, and if it is quartz where is a good place to put it back to mechanical. thanks

Re: 1967 clock, is it quartz or not

It's mechanical. The clock is electrically wound every few minutes. When you shut the car off and disconnect power to the battery, the clock will continue to run for a short period of time.Leif

Re: 1967 clock, is it quartz or not

Exactly right, an original clock will also have a ticking sound with distinct movements from second to second as the second hand sweeps..
You will also hear the "snap" of the clock rewinding every couple of minutes or so.

Quartz movements sweep smoothly and silently and immediately stop when power is removed.- Top

Re: 1967 clock, is it quartz or not

 Keith,

As noted above, appears you have a mechanical clock. In response to your thread title: 1980 had a mechanical clock - 1981 clock was quartz.
