I probably should have added: "ask me how I know" It took me a while to find the 1970 results, so that's how I found out.

Yes, and there are many awards, other than the Duntov, that have far fewer awards given out over the years.

I've pasted John's chart into my own word.doc, so I can find it any time.
Guess I'm good until after July 2020 at least.
John, any chance that you can provide the breakdown of Founders Awards also?
I know a couple owners who just collected one of those.

Vinnie - how many 5th Star Bowtie recipients have there been over the years? That would a number I'm curious about too.

            Thanks,

              Re: Duntov Award

If my math is correct, from the above data, the total Duntov Awards given out is only 1091. I believe several cars have more than one Duntov award, including my 63. Its interesting that '67 has more than twice as many as any other year...

I, too, want to say thank you, John, for posting this information. I was a bit taken aback by how few 1992 Corvettes have earned the McLellan and/or Crossed Flags Award. I was surprised to find out there are only two of us with the Crossed Flags Award and I must be the only one with the 5th. Star Award. Personally I would like to see more 1992 Corvettes earning a McLellan and/or Crossed Flags Award. I would like to put a challenge out to those of you who own a 1992 to bring it out and have it judged. To paraphrase Mr. Duntov - "Drive em' if you got em'." My 1992 LT1 Coupe earned a Founder's Award after earning the 5th. Star so I can attest to the fact that driving them doesn't hurt them.

                    Hi John:

I'm another member of the very exclusive " '92 McLellan Club". My black '92 needed too many under-hood repairs to qualify for Crossed Flags.
I bought my '92 Z07 to run in NCCC type events. Retired from NCCC autocross events to do 2008 NCRS Regional. 2010 PV, 2011 National.

I really admire those guys that get Founders Awards or Foltz Awards with a C1 or C2, now that is dedication and car preparation.

                          Re: Duntov Award

Some of the awards should have more separation, meaning it is much more of a challenge to get an award in a 50-60 year old car(C1-C2) , than to buy a newer car with low mileage that just needs cleaning and minor adjustments, then run it through the system.

37 years age isn't exactly a piece of cake either, even if you do start the road tour with only 1,320 miles on it.
Or are you and Don H suggesting that I relinquish my simultaneous Founders and Bowtie from this year's convention?

The newer C3's and up are great cars to enjoy. I just think there is a different challenge when you drive a C1 C2 car and get those awards.
For instance no electronics, no points to go bad in 3000 miles, in the owners manual of my 59 it says to lubricated chassis every 1000 miles, spark plugs last maybe 10,00 miles/ lots of other issues when you drive 60 year old cars.
I just sold my 82 McClean with 9,000 miles, it drove like a dream, and very little maintenance, loved it but its gone.
