C2 gauge services

Greetings,
Can anybody recommend a service that can fully restore gauges back to original condition without just buying replacement gauges or backing plates?

Be sure to take pictures before sending anything off to vendors.
Be clear on your expectations. My tachometer colors were redone in incorrect colors for a 63..
Without pictures I couldn't prove it.

Mine came back missing the original part number and date stampings on the back of the housing.
It had been blasted and painted with aluminum paint, not re-plated.
I am not sure why anyone would do that. Its extra effort and the backing plate was in great condition with no rust.
It may not matter to many but I was disappointed with the results for this reason.

If you are building a NCRS car have the front of the dash masked not taped off.
Radio capacitors need to be installed before inserting the dash into the housing.
Confirm the correct bulbs are installed in the headlight and p-brake warning lights.
Remember the steering wheel can be unscrewed, from the backing plate, if the column is still in place.
Makes it a lot easier to work on. Be sure you have the difficult to find clutch head screwdriver for these screws.
Check the dash as thoroughly as you can when it arrives. Issues are much easier to deal with immediately after the rebuild.
For instance my trip meter reset failed operations checks when it wouldn't reset.

Many just give a year guarantee and you are out of luck after that.

I agree. Also Corvette Specialities of Maryland West (now in California) is also a tried and true gage restoration company. Either one will get you a first class job.

Joe Ray has done my gauges, wiper motor, headlight motors, radio and clock on every car I’ve done. I’m very specific in what I ask him to do as far as what to refinish vs what to leave original and he has always done them exactly as I’ve asked. Always stands behind his work as well. Jeff
