C2 66 Roadster Center Cushion vinyl cover glue application

Is the glue application shown in the attached photos typical of the way the vinyl was glued to the sheet metal base?

Bob, yes they were glued but I don't recall the adhesive being white. I think it was the yellow contact adhesive GM used pretty much everywhere. I had an original 66 armrest here in the shop till last year but sold it to a guy who needed the baseplate (repros apparently don't fit quite right). But as I recall the adhesive was GM yellow (perhaps clear when new) and not white.

Thanks for your reply.
The area that appears "white" in the photo is actually bare metal. The brown area is the glue. I want to know if the glue was applied to the entire metal base at the factory as pictured. If the brown glue pictured is not a factory application I will strip the brown glue from the entire metal base and only apply the glue to the perimeter of the metal base where the vinyl will attach.

With the exception of a small glue free strip down the middle, my 65 cushion looks exactly like the O.P.'s. I don't know what color the glue was originally but it turned brown at some point.
