    66 B/B Antifreeze

What type and brand of antifreeze should be used in a 66 B/B?

    Many thanks for your suggestions!

Jimmy has good suggestions, I would also add a 50/50 mix of Zerex G-05 to that list.

Zerex G-05. It's the new "universal" antifreeze that provides excellent corrosion protection for ALL cooling system materials, including copper/brass/solder that are in vintage cars. (Modern cars have aluminum radiators/heater cores and no solder.)

A simple search will yield many threads that discuss all the whys and wherefores. It's a thoroughly vetted subject.

Does Preston offer an Ethylene Glycol similar to what was used in the 60's?

I doubt it and even if they did it would be a poor choice, as would using sixties technology engine oil. Sixties vintage antifreeze was loaded with silicates. They provided good corrosion protection, but clogged up radiator tubes.

Corrosion protection technology has come a long way since then. Modern ethylene glycol-based products with OAT and HOAT corrosion inhibitor chemistry provide better corrosion protection and don't precipitate out a lot of salts that clog up radiator tubes, but only HOAT types should be used on older cars with copper/brass/soldered radiators and heater cores.

Search this site "Zerex G-05" if you want to take a deeper dive into the subject.
