Re: 61 exhaust hanger confusion, Garrison Smith 727-687-9170
Hi Garrison,
welcome to the club and the technical discussion board. (TDB). My suggestion, do not change what you have. Let the judges inform you of what they determine. No matter what they determine, you do not have to change anything on your car if you think it is original, and you like it that way. You do not need any explanation for anything. The car speaks for itself.
and, if you would like, I will edit out your name and phone no. from your thread title, since it serves no purpose there. PM or email me if you have questions that need not be posted here.
good luck- Top

Re: 61 exhaust hanger question
Dave, thanks for weighing in, and I really like that perspective and will keep it in mind as I work thru this car.
We think it was all original and the body showed only minor events, nothing that would have had the potential to hurt the frame.- Top

Re: 61 exhaust hanger question
Hey guys thanks for the interest. I had two NCRS judges visit my shop yesterday to study the car and hopefully give me a short list to be ready for judging. Unfortunately we discovered my chassis is most likely from a 58-60 not a 61, which may explain the exhaust hanger. Otherwise its an all correct number car. I bought it as a flight award candidate and think the seller had never separated the body and frame. I did, but did not think to look for and examine the number on top of the frame under the drivers seat. We are going to try to get a better look at that area today, but I think we got a good look with a mirror yesterday and that we will find today the numbers have been removed. Too bad, Ive already just about finished the car and spent more $ than I would have had I known. Now Im going to go for the Concourse award and sell the car.- Top
