    1968 AIR System

I have a friend that has purchased a 1968 427 400 HP car. He is starting to look for missing parts to restore. One of the most expensive system to find will be the AIR System. He has already purchased a correct Tri Carb system and manifold. The car presently has the exhaust manifold bosses drilled, tapped and plugged. My question is, did ALL 1968's have AIR fittings and an AIR System installed at the factory. Any comments will be appreciated.

This question has come up time and again. ALL 1968 and 1969 Corvettes were originally equipped with AIR. No exceptions. Period. This even included cars delivered out of the USA.

Some of the "confusion" on this point stems from the fact that for most other 1968-69 Chevrolet models, those equipped with manual transmission were equipped with AIR while most of those equipped with automatic transmission were not equipped with AIR. However, this did not apply to Corvettes.

...Bill Hodel of Massillon, Ohio is one of if not the top A.I.R. guru. He's rebuilt several A.I.R. pumps for me and has quite the A.I.R. parts inventory.

I'll second the Bill Hodel comment. Great guy exceptional work. Did my 1969 L-71.
