    c2-c3 chrome bumpers worth saving?

I have about 25-30 used chrome bumpers for c2 and c3 that all need re-chroming and some need straightening. Are they worth saving or should they just be scrapped? If I were to save them does anyone know of a company that still straightens and preferable re-chromes these bumpers?

    Russ,
If these are all original C2-C3 bumpers, I would have to say that "YES" they're worth saving. Originals, in most instances, fit better than any reproduction. Paul's Chrome and Librandi's are two exceptionally good platers that can restore these bumpers for you...and, the rest of us!!

      Russ,

At minimum the bumpers are worth $3750 to $4500 at a swap. There are several chrome shops that will chrome them for far less than the above mentioned shops.

Joe, Can the shops you speak of straighten them?

Joe appreciate those contacts, the one the regional Big Box Parts stores and others were using in the D...quality to zero now.

The two I mentioned will do whatever is necessary to make them better than new. As Joe stated...not the cheapest but quality rarely is.

What are the names of these shops and where they located?

The only shop I have used since the 70's is Dan's Polishing and Plating Service in Adamsville, TN. He can be contacted at 1 731 632-0103 and yes he will take out dents and weld up holes. He is backed up for two to three months so plan your chrome job carefully.

Dan's dad started the business in the late 60's and is still there working every day!

They triple plate everything and have been featured in several of the Car Magazines lately as they are used by many of the Rodders!

You got out cheap, I had all the chrome done on a '57 Cadillac about the same time and spent over $12,000.00 The chrome was done by the company that did GM's show car chrome.

Seemed like a million at the time. I was 14!

I would have passed out and died for $12k

The car owner almost did. He is the one that wanted the chrome to be sent to that shop. At that time my shop of choice was Lemon Grove Plating in CA. Today it is Advanced Plating in TN

Dick, Advanced Plating in TN burned and have not recovered from the fire as of this month.

They are sending all their work to Dan's Plating and Polishing in Adamsville, TN.

Probably be a few more days until they are open for business again!
