    1956 3 Speed Transmission Finish

    I have been reading lots of posts trying to figure out the finish of the cat iron 3 speed and getting mixed answers. The judging manual does not specify the finish. Several NCRS members with 56 cars say it should be natural finish. Nolan adams has some pictures in his book showing the tranny mounted to the bell housing and in those it appears painted black with slight overspray on belhousing. Also in a few other books that show similar pictures the tranny looks painted, but these are black and white pics. What is the correct finish.
