    C2 bolt on knockoff wheels

A friend while helping mount new tires mixed up the RH and LH threaded wheel adaptors to which the spinners screw onto. Adaptors have RH and LH text machined in. Which side of the car gets the RH tread?

Also, regardless of the mix up I'm not able to thread a spinner onto an adaptor. I tried threading the same spinner onto a RH or LH adaptor. Cannot get initial thread engagement even though I'm twisting in the correct direction (as indicated on the spinner). I'm concerned with cross threading the cast iron spinner with the softer aluminum adaptor. These wheels have been on a garaged car for 22 years and don't show any signs of corrosion or galling. (Yes, tire replacement was much overdue) March to November the car is driven once or twice weekly. Any thoughts on this spinner threading issue?

    Ed,
With direct bolt knock offs the direction of the spinner is not nearly as important as regular knock offs - they are intended to tighten the spinner with the wheel rotation. On both sides the spinner should say "Off" and the arrow should point to the front of the car. The adapter should say "LH" on the left (drivers) side and "RH" on the right (passenger) side.
    Good luck,
    Don H.

Thanks Don. Yes, I'm aware of it not being as critical as with real knockoffs. After hearing of a friend losing his real KO at 60 mph I traded my repo KO's for the bolt on's. Any thoughts on the spinner threading difficulty? As mentioned, I'm concerned about cross threading.

Re: C2 bolt on knockoff wheels

I just installed a set and had no issues with the spinner threads.
I thought the adapter was a really nice design.
Also came with the anti-theft pins. I didn't use them but really didn't see how they could be removed easily.
In my opinion they should have a threaded puller hole.
        I don't believe a stock lug-nut wrench will get to the lug-nuts.
Be sure to carry a thin-walled socket that will fit through the holes.
Install the center caps on and then leave them in place. They can be removed from the back side if needed.

One of the wheels had a small ding in the tire flange.
I complained but never received a response other than they will get back to me. They never did.
I would closely inspect this area even though they came with a nice plastic protector for the OD of the rim.

          Thanks Richard

As mentioned I've had my wheels on for 22 years, never been removed. Don't recall any problem installing spinners back then. When now removing them to mount tires they smoothly came off adaptor. I had to gently tap the spinner with a lead hammer to get them tight years back and to start removal now. Slight tap for removal in correct direction and then they smoothly unscrewed. Don't understand why I'm unable to start threads to install spinner now.

Ed, I have no idea why suddenly you are having trouble with the threads. I have had my set of direct bolt-ons for about 16 years and have removed about every year to bleed the brakes with no thread problems. My suggest would be to re-check the wheel & spinner sides. Another tool every knock off owner should have is the cap removal suction cup from Long Island, it works great! Don H.

Thanks. Yes, I'm aware of LI Corvette. I developed their logo drawing. However was not aware of the tool
