    Question on GM#3847710/Quanta#B-060 #59-26 Alt.Belt

Restoring a 1966 Corvette with a L75(Base) Engine. No A/C-P/S has just alternator belt. The above belt was
bought through Paragon. Has anybody else had problems with the "fit" of this belt? Could not get it installed
as it was to short; could not get around the pulleys. Had to put on a belt that was a little longer. Thanks in
    advance-Larry

Larry, I've had problems with Quanta belts being too short in the past. I'm now using Corvette Central belts. I believe they make their own under the name Z06 belts.

      All------

I believe that one of the problems with these belts is that folks want belts with the part numbers specified in the JG or AIM and I do not think that those were always the belts used in PRODUCTION. Since the vast majority of cars are not found with original belts, the only thing folks go by is what comes from references regarding what belt was supposed to be installed. I'm not sure that the old P&A catalogs are necessarily correct in every case, either, because their information comes from PRODUCTION sources.

Quanta even has some different length belts with the same part number apparently in order to accommodate folks who want a belt of a certain part number BUT one which will also fit properly. I don't think that GM ever had belts of different lengths with the same part number.

The part #'s in PA-30 are all wrong on belts. At least through the early '70's. I have crossed them to Dayco, Goodyear, Gates, etc and most come up with belt numbers that WILL NOT fit the cars

I've had good luck with fit of Quanta belts. Before declaring the belt too short, have you verified that your pulleys are correct? In particular the alternator pulley may be the wrong diameter. Alternator rebuilders pay little attention to getting the pulley right for a specific application.

Ed: Yes all my pulleys are stone stock according to the 1966 TIMJG. Thanks-Larry

Quick Update: Called Quanta and they agreed to exchange belts with me. Will send a little longer belt to fit. Yes they do have a short
and long belt for the same number. Larry

I have 2 of these, which I have been led to believe are NOS / Production. Does the length embossed (53.25") agree with the Quanta product under discussion ?

Also have a 3847702 in original black/yellow sleeve, which also has the embossed data.

Wayne: No; believe mine said 300 X 53.30. They will send me a belt I believe that is a size>54.8. Hope it works. Larry
P.S. Also Goes by Quanta #B-060 which is the same they claim as GM 3847710

I had a similar issue with a belt for my 1982.
Both the CC catalog and Quanta literature were incorrect for my application.
CC sent me a new belt (0.50" longer), and said they will look into correcting their website, and eventually printed catalog(s).
If you know the correct length of belt you need, it's a good idea to confirm what they will send when you order.
I did not, so I had to mess with the exchange process...

FWIW: Just got my replacement(exchange) in from Quanta Products. Sent in "3847710" which was a little too short.(53.3 Inch) and
got a "3871257"(54.8 Inch) which was made for a 327/365 HP W/O AC. My car is a 66 Base 327/300 HP. Bottom Line>
Fit like a glove>perfect. Alt. Adj. now right in the middle of the bracket. Got to hand it to Quanta Products for working with me.
                      Thanks to all>Larry
