72 454 Valve Covers

My newly acquired 72 454 came with chrome valve covers. Most of the car is all original but I have doubts on the chrome valve covers.

Any one know for sure what color valve covers my 72 454 come with?? I ended up buying a set of used orange valve covers but still not sure if these where the type that came on my car. Im wondering on the configuration of these valve covers if it is correct for a 72 Vette with the 454 4 speed with air, power brakes and power steering..

Your engine was originally fitted with steel valve covers that were painted engine color. The right side valve cover was the type using a rubber plug for the oil filler.

Also, There are oil drippers and the position of the wire holders is different from earlier covers. If you post pics of what you have I can confirm that they're correct. Took me years to find a correct set.
