62 & 63/64 Front Wheel Cylinders

I haven't been able to find any suppliers which carry wheel cylinder kits that include pistons for the 1-3/16" front wheel cylinders used in 1962. Long Island Corvette Supply has rebuild kits including pistons for 63 and 64 Corvettes. Does anyone know if these kits will work for the 62? I think the 62 and 63/64 cylinders have the same ID but the part numbers differ which prompts my question.

I don't think the 63-64 parts will work for C1 but I'm not 100% sure. Have you tried Lonestar Caliper in Texas or CSSB? If one of those does not have them or know where to get them, I'd say you're out of luck.

Check with your local NAPA store. NAPA has brake parts available a la carte'.

As far as '63 rebuild kits working in '62 wheel cylinders.... it's worth a try.

If you strike out with NAPA or with '63 rebuilt kits, be aware that there are 1-3/16" wheel cylinders for International Harvester which will work on C1 Corvettes. I have had a pair on my '60 for 8 years.

Rick,

When Chevrolet still had wheel cylinders kits available they were offered under part #5467028 ( 1 & 3/16" ) with application for 1960 -64 pass car, 1960 - 64 Corvette, and 1965-69 pass car. I would think the LI kits should work just fine.

check eBabe as there are any number of rebuild kits listed as well as complete wheel cylinder replacements - check with ZIP products; LICS; and Doc Rebuild

Thanks for the suggestions. I had tried all of the usual parts suppliers, but didn't think to try the rebuilders, so there's a possibility. Also, LICS will take back the rebuild kits if they don't fit.
