Re: Tips on buying new Holley 3810

    UPDATE:

I told you about my less-than-satisfactory chat with David Crane this morning, so I was surprised when he called me back this afternoon.

David said we can avoid the whole PayPal thing if I just order the carb directly from him. He verified that he can take payment via a Canadian issued credit card without issues, or extra fees.

So, I went ahead and ordered the carb from him. He also gave me a pretty good price on it! Thanks David!

I'm now eagerly awaiting the arrival of my NEW Holley 3810. Can't wait!

      Edward,

Is that also the case if I were to get a new repro 3367 carb for my '66 L79? If so, where does one get the choke kit and linkage?

        Hi Gary,

I just ordered the Holley choke kit from eBay to go with my new Holley 3810 carb. My '67 has a cast-iron manifold, so there's a specific kit for it.

You have a Holley 3367 on an aluminum manifold, so here's the choke kit you need:

Buy it Now price is $33.95.

        Hope this helps,

The ones from specialty parts, that is. Why buy a Crane when you can get the one from specialty parts???

I wish that choke kit was sold by an eBay seller with a less checkered seller history.

I can't speak specifically to the 3810 but all of the Holley reproduction carbs from Specialty Parts that I have examined have been original-type zinc castings. I can't imagine that the 3810 would be any different. Except for a few minor differences, these carbs are identical to the originals.

As far as I know, all of these Holley reproduction carbs on the market today are sourced from Specialty Parts regardless of who they are actually purchased from. I was told that Holley only manufactures them in batches to a "minimum order" and only for Specialty Sales.

                      Leif,

Thanks. I much prefer to give my business to LIC.

                        Hi William,

I bought from Crane because he had the identical carb for a better price. It's stated here that all the new vintage Holleys are the same, distributed by Specialty Parts Direct to other vendors. So it's the same product, but pricing does vary. I checked Ecklers Specialty Direct, and Crane (listed from most to least expensive).
