Is the ignition key a square head? Does the ignition key work the door locks? Does the oval head key operate the spare tire lock and the lockable compartment behind the seats? Does the oval head key work the door locks?

Alan,
The square key (with an "E" stamped in) operates the doors and ignition. The oval key (with "H" stamped) operates the the glove box and spare tire lock.It should not be able to open the doors or fit into the ignition.

To amplify on Jeff's correct answer, it wasn't until model year '74 that the square key only operated the ignition.
