Thanks Mike, I was hoping my memory wasn't failing me. I have a '64 Z06 optioned tanker that also has that book, very interesting stuff. The best is the name and address of the first owner, very useful for contact tracing.......

I think a simple way to sum it up is. If you have a base car then the documentation has a lower value. I.E. a 250 hp 63 car. If you have a unique car, say a 67 437/435 car, L88 or L89, then that piece of paper adds many $$$ to the value. My guess, $25k +

I also agree with Harry only if POP is Certifed or Validated to be Real and original

The higher the horsepower, the rarer/desirability of the car and especially if the build is in limited numbers, then the value percentage will certainly increase. Back in the 60s and 70s my dad worked as a salesman at Cooley Chevrolet in New Haven Connecticut. He sold one of the 20 1967 L88’s. In fact he sold it to a guy that I still have some contact with. After my father passed in 2001, I went through his files that he kept on cars that he sold, in particular I was looking for anything related to the sale of that 67 L88. Unfortunately I was not successful in finding anything pertaining to that particular car.
Interesting history Ron. HOW are you doing?

For 1963 and 1964 Corvettes, does having the original warranty booklet carry any weight? my '64 has the original warranty booklet with the original owner's information, car VIN, engine suffix, key numbers, etc.

The 1963 and 1964 warranty books are an asset to any Corvette, you have lots of data included in the warranty book. Many owners would love to have that information on their car even though 1963 and 1964 were hand written.

I was told that the reason there generally NO Factory paperwork in the glove box is the dealers would take every piece of paper out of the Corvette to keep the new owner to contact the previous one. Didn't want them to find out that they massaged the cars to hide things they did you to know. We all know that most used car dealers rolled back the odometer. I friend that worked for a used car lot said they had a 55 gallon barrel full of POP'S ETC.

                      Ken,
So true about the used car dealers emptying the glove boxes. Early 90s I bought a '67 435 convertible from a local guy. He had bought the car a couple of years earlier from a local used car guy who also had a second lot where he sold muscle cars and Corvettes. I stopped in and asked about any history on my '67 that he had sold. He did not or would not tell me any previous owner history. I asked about glove box items. He told me that he throws everything that they find into boxes when they first get the car and clean them out. When I asked if he still had anything from my car he said that he had no idea if there ever was anything in the car. But if there was it would be back in the shed. He said that he was about to empty out the whole thing. After he saw my interest he said that if I cleaned everything I could have it all for $200. But I had to take it all. I saw a pickup truck full of glovebox type items and assorted maps and notebook papers. There was a few small old car parts amongst the boxes. So I bought it. When I finished loading everything and paid him he smiled and said that he would have given me $20 to take it all away.
I took a few days going through the mess. I did find the complete owners bag for my '67. There were also a some other Corvette items. So I was quite happy. He was too. When I would run into him at the local cruise in he took great fun in calling me his garbage man!

Tim can you elaborate on the hand written '63-4 booklets and the typed booklets.

The warranty book James posted is typed, but many were hand written by the dealer.

The hand full I have seen and the couple I have were all typed. With such a small sample I would be wise to remember to "never assume". Maybe a year or so ago someone posted something regarding an Owner Protection booklet they had from a car they owned. I think it was a '63. I asked off the board and he replied that it was had written. Based on my limited experience with only typed booklets I was skeptical. Because blank booklets are readily available from dealers and auction web sites the opportunities to become creative with a cars configuration/history unfortunately is too readily available.

I purchased 1964 #8687 from the original owner and it did have a hand written Warranty Book. I wrote an article 20 years ago called "They're Still out There" with a picture of it along with the build sheet. I'll see if I can find the picture of that Warranty Book. I searched my computer and didn't see it. I do understand hesitation on hand written versions.
