1966 Corvette with L75(Base Engine) Vacuum Advance Hose Question

I've seen many many pictures of this engine since I started my project. In a good many of them
I see a rubber hose only that connects the distributor to the carb. I have also seen a steel tube that
separates the hose. IIRC the Judging Manual indicates the steel tube is correct. Could it be that both
are correct depending on the date of build?? Thanks in advance>Larry

The steel tube is correct. Also, there is a clip that fastens under an intake bolt that retains the tube in place.

Not that I know anything as I am new to all this, but I was told the other day that the '66 327/300 did NOT use the clip on the intake. I am SURE someone on here can clarify this so I can buy one if I need it.

      Cheers,

      Richard

I think they all had the clip. Yes, AIM UPC6 C2 calls out the pipe and hose but not the clip. However the illustration shows the clip. It came already bolted on with the main engine assy (done when the intake was installed). The AIM sheet only shows the parts added at factory assembly.

I'll move this up once. Anybody else have thoughts on this subject? If the clip was installed I assume it should be painted
Chevy Orange; correct? Picture below is a "Top Flight" L75. Don't know if points where deducted on not on the Vaccum
          Advance line. Anybody?? Thanks Larry
