    C2 Front Bumper Bolt Spacer Finish

    What is the correct finish for the front bumper bolt spacers? I assume all C2s use the same spacer but if not, my question pertains to a '64.

    I am talking about the spacers that go on the long brackets that are mounted to the front cross member. The bumper assembly requires 4 of these.

    One "vendor" shows the spacers as black, another shows them as bright bare metal - possibly zinc plated, possibly natural.

    Are they painted, black phosphorous, zinc or whatever?

    Disregard ---- I found the answer - it was in a forum thread. The consensus is the spacers are black or black phosphorous.

    Here is the link to the thread: https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...racket-spacers

      Ed.
      Thanks for the link.
      Some good information there. It is easy to forget the details.

      Like this information from the link;
      And, counter-intuitively, the nuts go on the outboard ends of the bolts.

      I would like to know the length of the spacers. I was having a terrible time getting mine in and I read where the aftermarket spacers can be an incorrect length. I would like to confirm mine are correct.
      Thanks
      Rick

          I will be ordering from LIC - their's are "black" - not sure what the finish actually is but at least they aren't shiny. As for length, I suspect that I will have to "adjust" the length of them to make them fit. My '64 does not have the spacers and I am sure that the PO collapsed the channel brackets some when he tightened them. I will put up another post with the length of the new ones when I get them.

            To add a bit to all the above advice, the spacers should be a fairly tight fit inside the bumper channels. You can grind some off of an end of them if the channels have been collapsed in a bit, but before you do so check that the bumper channels fit well into the brace channels. You may need to expand bumper channels or compress brace channels for a decent fit. Lastly the spacers usually fit tight and have to be helped into place with a plastic mallet and a drift pin thru the entire assy before you can get the bolt thru.
