Just installed the body back onto the original frame/drivetrain of my 63 coupe. All went extremely smooth using the same shim dimensions, at all locations, as the original factory installation. However when I went to install the radiator support (using 2 shims on each side- support to frame) there was a significant (3/8-1/2") misalignment issues between the rad support vertical side bolts and the inner fender of the body (body was low). I was only able to align the bolts by gently jacking (raising) the body and removing one shim from each side of the support to frame mount. I expected to have to slightly raise the body but this was a bit more than I am comfortable with.
Body and frame were separated for about 7 months. Body was worked and stored on a fixture mounted in the U channel, with front end supports that frankly didn't provide to much support. The under hood and front end of the body were complete stripped prior to removal from the frame.
I don't recall having this much of an alignment issue on other radiator supports I have installed on C2 cars.
Is this something I should be concerned with and need to rework? This was the first time this body was separated from the frame since new and it went back with the original components for the most part. Any input would be appreciated. Thx Joe
