I'm attempting to replace the hinge on the on the window frame side. I have the aero rivet II tool and find that the tool head is too wide to fit in the channel that the rivet protrudes into . Using the tool will distort the channel , has anyone used this tool to replace this hinge , did you alter the size of the tool head , are there smaller heads available from the mfg. , any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance . Jeff

Re: replacing 67 vent window hinge
Jeff,
I use an aero rivet tool for these. I have ground outside flats on the small roll peening head so it fits into the channel. This works good. Don't grind off anymore than you have to on each side until it just fits in the channel.- Top

Re: replacing 67 vent window hinge
Thanks for the reply Ed, I was hoping not to have to grind the tool head smaller . As the tools directions refer to the tool as the "corvette aero-rivet-II tool" , I would have thought that the tool heads would be made to a size that would take into consideration the dimensions of the different spaces that rivets are placed on a corvette. I may call the mfg. on Monday and see if they have different size heads for this tool , before I go to grinding. Thanks for your post I appreciate the input. Jeff- Top
