Can someone clue me in on the secret of removing the lower windshield molding on a '65 convertible. I've searched the TDB, reviewed the shop manual and AIM, but I'm not seeing how to get this piece off. All the other molding came off easily, but the lower molding won't budge. Getting ready to go to the painter, so I definitely need to remove it. Thanks!

Re: 65 Lower Windshield Molding Removal
The lower molding is actually a "T" shape piece that is held in place with the clips on your windshield surround. The "T" piece has a small ridge that the clip grabs so you have to bend the clip slightly or push the "T" to release its grip on the molding. They make a special tool for this you can just start at one end and release the clips one at a time. You can probably use a thin screw driver also. You might want to use a piece of tape on the gasket to mark the exact location of the start of the molding so you can install it at the same location later.- Top

Re: 65 Lower Windshield Molding Removal
Hello;
Can anyone expand on removing the C2 lower windshield molding / stainless.
Maybe with pictures of tools and other pictures.
Working on a no rust '67 convertible with much dirt and sealers under the molding.
Thanks for any help.

Re: 65 Lower Windshield Molding Removal
I always take the windshield out before releasing the clips and removing the molding. If you are replacing the weatherstrip, take a box cutter and slice the weatherstrip in half around the perimeter of the windshield, then lift the windshield out. If saving the weatherstrip just work it out along the top and down the sides and the windshield will lift out. Then you can get right at the clips and release them. Google “windshield clip removal tool”, Amazon or any Auto Body Supply store, or tool truck will have one. If the clips are original, I would reuse them as the replacements clips don’t work very well.- Top
