    Help -- Trying to install reverse shifter shaft, Muncie 4sp.

    Read items 4 and 5. The hidden words in the last two lines of item 5 are ...over the "ball and turn until the", and [last line] ... "on the shaft detent plate..."
    Sounds easy but my thumb is not strong enough, or the spring is too strong. What would a "suitable tool" be ?

    Pushing it in with a screwdriver will work. If you have to grind the flutes off a round Philips screw driver and use it.
    That will give you a handle and some support for your hands.
    You can even grind the end concave with a dremel if needed.
