Headlight/turn signal wiring between grill and wheel wells??

    Hi all,

'58-62 has a hole with a grommet where the wiring for the headlights and the turn signals runs from the grill area to the wheel wells. There doesn't seem to be anything like this for my 1957 and i can't exactly tell from the AIM how the wiring gets from grill to wheel well. Does anyone have a clear explanation or, preferably, a picture(s)?

    Thanks,

    Bob

AIM Sect 12, Sht 6, Views A & B show connectors for headlight and turn signals coming off main chassis harness. Conns are mounted on inner fender panel just behind radiator bulkhead panel each side, near the horn relay, etc. left side. Don't have access to my car, but I believe wiring goes through fender skirts to headlight and turn signals from there, not from behind the grille. Not 100% on this, but hope it helps.

      Rod,

There is a grommet hole for the harness just forward of the horn relay. But it leads to the grill area and there is no hole that I can find from there to the wheel wells on either side. And both my '57s are on dollies and have nothing in the grill area except horns on one and no wheels to hid anything. Crazy! I will have to study the AIM some more.

      Thanks,

      Bob

Bob, the headlight and parking light wires go through a length of "auto loom" sleeving from the connectors on the fender well and dress down through an opening next to the radiator shroud and into the fender well. They are held in place by clips and go directly to the headlights and parking lights.

As far as I know auto loom sleeving is still available, as it was used by several manufactures back in the day, including Harley Davision. I bought some several years ago on E-Bay.

        Hope this helps,

        -Dan-
