I need an opinion on this carb stamping 7028209 FG

I recently picked up this 209 FG carb, and was getting ready to have it installed. I was told that it looked like a restamp. I've had a total of three knowledgeable people all agree. The reasons given:

1. The spacing between the number and letters is incorrect, somewhat curved
2. The "2" 's shouldn't match (most of the time)
3. The 9 appears to be an upside down 6
4. The FG is incorrect font
5. The pad area has been milled flat, and texture does not match the rest of the casting.
6. reputable carb restorers have told me casting # on body is for a small block, not big block.

There are other issues also, but I wanted to start with this.


Looking for some help and opinions.

Chris there are some people out there that make a living of doing this. If your carb is one of the carb.s that may be hard to come by I could see this happening. I would take it as the three other people may know when looking at the stamp (re-stamp).
