    C1 Emergency Brake Handle

I have removed the emergency brake assembly from my 56 and would like to take it apart so I can refinish it but not sure how to get the inner rod out of the main assembly. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks

    Sheldon,

If you have your assembly out of the car, then look at where you can see the top of the rod just behind the bracket that attaches under the dash. There is a pin in the rod that limits how far out you can pull the rod. Just use pliers or whatever and pull out the pin. And then the rod pulls right out. Be sure to keep the spring and pieces that catch the slots in the rod in order. The bracket piece is painted gloss black. The rod and other pieces are not. Then you can reuse your pin when you're ready to install. Hope this helps.
