    1967 Ammeter (Battery) Gauge

The needle on my original ammeter is sticking. When engine is running, it indicates about a +20 charge. Turn engine off, and needle stays "stuck" at +20. Tap on the dash, and needle will fall back to 0. Turn on headlights, and it shows a negative reading.
Start engine, and needle will jump to +20 and not move any more or less. Turn engine off and needle stays at +20 until you tap dash again. Probably time to replace gauge?

Are you sure it’s not a “tap the dash” gauge? Maybe slam the door will do the same thing.........
