    Not sure if this page from the 1968 Assembly Manual helps:

        Re: 1968 owner manual

        How many editions of the manual were issued in 1968... was 3927527 (as noted on the bottom) one of them?
        Sorry I can't be of more assistance... I'm sure others will stop by to help.

          According to the JG, only two. One dated in late 67 and the one in question dated Jan 68. Sure looks like there were more. Another 1968 mystery :-)

            Re: 1968 owner manual

            I just did a totally unreliable/unscientific look on eBay at the many 1968 Corvette manuals they have for sale.
            You can't see all the the part numbers, whether they have a mail in card, or if they are marked as 'reproductions'.
            That said, I see TWO different part numbers for the 1st Edition... and TWO different part numbers for the 2nd Edition.
            The common aspect is the part numbers listed in the AIM contain the mail in cards...
            Not one single ALTERNATE part number had the mail in card (full or half).

            Here's what I observed for the 1968 Owners Manual:

            1st Edition:
            3935069 = 4 (found)
            Card = 0
            No Card = 1

            1st Edition:
            3927527 = 3 (found)
            Card = 3
            No Card = 0
            (this is listed in the AIM)

            -------------

            2nd Edition:
            3943684 = 7 (found)
            Card = 0
            No Card = 6

            2nd Edition:
            3947015 = 8 (found)
            Card = 8
            No Card = 0
            (this is listed in the AIM)

            So it appears that the part numbers from the AIM (3927527 & 3947015) were the only manuals containing the mail in card.
            Could the other manuals (without the cards) be a service department/counter replacement?
            If so, does it seems unusual that part numbers would change (I'm not familiar with C3s)?
            As usual, your mileage may vary...

                Car 26679 has the original owners manual and is part number 3947015 with a card. Definitely the original owners manual to this car.

                  Thanks Tim. Pretty clear now what the original is.

                    Re: 1968 owner manual

                    FYI: I'm uncertain if there were similar situations in the C3 world... but some C2 owner's manuals were 'reissued' by Helms WITH the mail in card. Typically, these were 2nd Editions, usually printed darker (as if the graphics were a poor copy), and the paper seemed a tad cheaper/thinner. They are NOT marked as reprints, so with the card, they can easily be mistaken for an 'original'... always exercise caution if you are buying.

                        Re: 1968 owner manual

                        The real mystery is why four different part numbers. Not a big deal, just interesting.
                        Indeed... tracking the history can often be frustrating, but quite rewarding when you make some discoveries.
                        Perhaps check in with the Team Leaders to see if any updates are in the 'cue'.

                          Re: 1968 owner manual

                          Sorry for the delay in replying. Been tied for a few days.

                          AIM shows First Edition 3927527, Engineering Change record #10 dated 1-26-68 shows it was changed to 3947015. I have a very original May 1st car here with the 3947015 Manual in it. I am going to check a few other cars I know of locally. But I suspect they are also 7015 manuals.

                          I am not sure where I got the numbers from for the manual, but obviously they are not right. ANOTHER mistake found. I have corrected my manual, when we do the 6th Edition update, I'll make sure we get that corrected.

                          Thanks Rich for letting us know. Appreciate the help.
