67 Trico Wiper refills don't fit the Trico arms

Hi guys. I'm new here. Just got a 67 convertible, 427/400 in great shape but dealing with a few issues. The rubber blades are starting to peel. I've look at a ton of posts about correct wiper blades on this forum, but I haven't seen anything about this specific issue. Mine are Trico blades. I've ordered correct refill from Eckler. The refills even same to have the same part numbers as what is on the car, but the metal piece holding the rubber is different. The "loops" are larger on the new blade and I can't get it to fit on the arm. The only way I can see this working is to bend each of the contact point open, and I don't want to do that. Any advice that you can give a newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Take the new blade and remove the rubber wipe. Do the same on the old blade that fits the arm. Then feed the new rubber blade into the old metal holder. Prblem solved.
