I got to thinking about my read springs on my 59. I bought a rear spring hanger from eBay many years back and when I installed it I noticed the friction fit of the base of the eye pin into large hole of the spring hanger was loose. I worried a bit, but tightened it up nonetheless and that was that. The other side had a tight friction fit. I used new eye pins on both. However, I'm wondering now, am I at risk of the spring eye loosening up if the friction fit was loose? Should I take it apart and get a new spring hanger with proper friction fit? Pic below to illustrate what I'm talking about... if it's suggested I should replace, what's the best way to do that without removing the spring?

Are you saying the serrated end slides through the hole in the bracket? If so you could give it a tack weld or two while on the car.
If you want to change the bracket you can remove the pin and bracket while the spring is still on the car. Need to support the rear axel housing and thus the spring which is attached by the U bolts. After removing the 4 bolts holding the bracket to the frame lower the axel housing and the front free end of the spring should drop to allow the pin to be removed.- Top

Re: Loose C1 rear spring hanger eye pin friction fit - worry?
Thanks guys, appreciate the help. I do plan to drive the car, and right now the body is off the frame, so if I'm going to do something to it, now is the time. Yes, the serrated circumference of the pin bottom wasn't snug in the inboard hanger hole when I put it in. The other I had to torque down with the nut. The service guide says it has to be pressed. I got a new spring hanger and will replace it. I'm not much with a welding rig.- Top
