    C1 Inner Tach Cable

    Hi guys,
I am working on my 61 F.I Vette and need to replace the inner tach cable and the firewall seal. The cable is .130 dia. and 34 inches long with the metal ends. Does anyone know of a source for this cable and seal, or perhaps a kit to make one, all the kits I have found have a plastic drive end. I know aftermarket complete cables are available but they are costly and I'm not sure of the quality.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Ed, Yes, do not use the kits with a plastic end. Try to get the ATP YC-100 kit (see below). It uses a metal end, I got mine at a local parts store. Be sure to lube when you install, I use a graphite type. Good luck, Don H.

Ed, I don't have personal experience with that seal but would suggest checking the Corvette vendors. Don H.

          Don,
Thanks for the response, I located a source for the ATP cable kits, I noticed that the YC-100 is .120 dia. and the YC-101 is .130 dia. The cable I took out of my car was .130 dia. do you know which dia.is correct ?

          Regards,
          Ed

Ed, I have no idea what was the original diameter (possibly someone here does). I would think that .01 would not make any difference - better smaller than bigger. I used that kit for my '65 tach not my '60. It would be interesting to know if the diameter changed over the years and what was original. Don H.
