    1970 Headlight Stop Bracket Finish

I am trying to figure out the proper finish for the headlight stop brackets, GM Nos. 3972301 and 3972302. Mine look like they were originally semi gloss black, but two repaints of the car have left a lot of overspray on them. Were they on the car when originally painted or added after paint?

What is the configuration and finish of the adjusting bolts? My adjusting bolts have a round head 9/16" in diameter and 1/8" thick with slots for a straight screw driver to adjust them. I have no reason to think these are not original, especially since they both match, but all of the brackets I see for sale on the internet have hex headed bolts in them. My adjusting bolts appear to have black paint on them.

    Thanks,
    Allen

I have sand blasted my headlight stop brackets and painted them semi gloss black. I am ready to install them today, but still uncertain whether to add overspray or not.

Allen, I think... they were dip painted semi-gloss black like a lot of other parts. The bolts I find to be zinc-plated indented hex head. They were part of the headlight assembly, installed before body paint. Body color overspray will be seen on it and the the other components.
