C4 Under Hood Paint

At the Florida Regional last week a question was asked as to the correct paint to restore the under hood area of a C4.

Any thoughts or comments would greatly be accepted.

There used to be a GM underhood paint that was used for underhood as well as under the trunk on my C5 convert. Perfect color/finish, etc. but it's been discontinued/replaced with one that's not the same. (I saved the can so have the old part # and can post it from home tonight)

Some members have been using "Old 55" brand satin black that is available at Fleet Farm stores here in MN.

The original GM paint I used was Goodwrench Engine Enamel Low Gloss Black, part 1-#12346296. When I tried to order more from my dealer I was told it was replaced by GM Vehicle Care Engine Enamel Paint Low Gloss Black, part 1-#89021939. It was not the same!
The "Old 55" brand Satin Black #M47270 is pretty close to the first GM product and better than the replacement in my opinion.

How bad is their current paint? Are they swapping originality points for condition points?

Dave, I agree with your thoughts. I have not seen the C4 in question but trying to help out a friend of Paul. Apparently this just happened at the Florida Regional.

Pat, I judged all of the C-4,s for flight judging. None had any major paint issues under the hoods that I could tell. In fact all the those C-4 were in near factory condition.

Folks, let me explain something. I received a request to help out an NCRS member who had his C4 at Lakeland. In what capacity I do not know. I received this request second hand. I never saw this C4 and do not know anything about it. Apparently his alternator locked up on his way home from Lakeland and marked up his under hood. He reached out to my friend for some help. My friend reached out to me and here I am.
I appreciate the input and I still have some leads outstanding. If I get any positive responses I will post them.
