You could check the areas that may not have been hit with paint stripper. Door locks, hinge plates, in the deck lid area and the trunk.

Check under the dash and behind the kick panels
      Check under moldings
Check behind the seats and behind the trunk board - or deep in the trunk wheel wells
Unless the car is blasted well - you normally find the orig color

Also check under the gas filler door. My friend has a Pennant Blue 55 and the paint there looked like original.

According to Noland, the color should be written or abbreviated on the bulkhead panel between the trunk and cabin. Written is permanent crayon. If car has not been restored and paint stripped in this area, the writing should be there. However, the factory painted this area during assembly, so the paint needs to be removed to see the writing.

This info should also be in the archives and you can search for additional details, and the specific area to check.

Other posters have provided good ideas as well. Since there was only four colors for 1954, you should be able to find evidence of the original color. Original colors were red, blue, white, and black. A close exam of the car should reveal original color in most cases.

What color is the car painted now??
