What is this small opening for in the upper firewall area on my 69?

Guys,

I'm trying to figure out what this small rectangular opening in for in the firewall by the WSW motor on my 69 coupe non-AC car. Can anyone help? Please see the pics.

It's for the wiper door electric limit switch.
When you turn the wiper switch to ON, the door opens, a lever that sticks through the firewall depresses the switch and turns the wiper motor ON.

This is how it should look. All of the components are GM-discontinued but you should be able to find them in the used market.
