I have a question on the cove options on the 1959. It is my understanding the choices were white, silver, or body colour. The contrast cove colour is supposed to run the entire cove length as well. Did at anytime the factory leave the fender portion of the cove body colour or was this maybe a dealer paint option or owner added. The car in the pic has NCRS stickers on it and the owner claims the judges said it was correct. I have seen two other 59's with the fenders painted body colour. Both of those cars were red. See pic for better explanation of what I'm trying to determine.

Re: 1959 cove options
William, the entire area outlined by the trim should be all white or all blue, but not half and half. No judge would accept that unless the owner provided documentation of some sort that this non-standard cove was done that way at the factory. I don't think silver was an option with blue. - Bob- Top

Re: 1959 cove options
Thanks Bob. Yes I knew silver was not available on the blue. I was confirming that other than body colour only white or silver were the choices based on what the main colour was. 57 and 58 were the only years I knew silver coves were available with a blue. I was pretty positive the cove colour had to go the entire length and your statement supports that. I've tried to convince the owner it's wrong but he gets testy and I don't have time or desire to argue with him. My background is C3 thru C7 so I'm still learning the nuances of the C1 and 2. Thanks again for your reply. Bill

Re: 1959 cove options
Steve,
The Solid Axle article says that the car is used and either a 59 or 60. Don't know how they know it is used, but it has 56-58 non-slotted hubcaps on it. That cove paint could be dealer, as you say, or factory, but the latter would need documentation. Playing with the cove paint was popular. I used to have a white 60 with a red cove!
