I am doing a PV in Lakeland coming up in a few weeks. One of my questions is, does the ignition key go in teeth up or down? Also could someone go over the correct door lock operation as far as the lock knob position and key position, up or down. locking sequence, etc. The trunk lock is teeth down I believe. Thank you.

Re: 1958 key and lock question for PV
Most everything you need to know for the operation of things and the Team Leader expects to see is detailed here.
National Corvette Restorers Society! 1953-62 NCRS Corvette Operations Manual & PV Test Guide - "The purpose of the (Performance Verification) test is to detemine if the car entered is correctly equipped and able to fully function and perform as designed, intended and expected when new" The NCRS PV Test Standard. Sounds easy: it is not. These manuals are a must-have guide for owners, judges, and- Top

Re: 1958 key and lock question for PV
Benjamin,
As usual, Dan is right on. One tip, be sure the driver's door will open from the inside when locked (passenger side will not). Another way to say it is be sure the driver's inside door open knob overrides the lock. Good luck, Don H.- Top

Re: 1958 key and lock question for PV
Dennis,
That is what I have always observed during operations & my '60 operates that way. After I posted I started thinking about what year this started (original poster is a 1958) and your post has me wondering so I checked the manuals. The 56-57 & 58-60 do not address it. The 53-62 Operations & PV Test Guide says 56-62 open when locked by the inside door knob. The 61-62 says both inside door release's will overcome the lock. I guess I am not sure and could very well be wrong?!?!
