How is the Line for AC Expansion Valve Bulb Routed? '70

Looking at the line for the expansion valve bulb where it mounts to the evaporator outlet, does it enter the sealant at its rear edge like the internet photo below?

Or does it enter the sealant at its forward edge?

    Mark,
These are some old pictures of my 72, before I removed the expansion valve for repair. From the pictures it looks like the bulb tube goes to the front of the car and then goes under the insulation.

      Thanks Ed.

Do you know I if that's a factory installation, or if the bulb has been removed/installed?

        Mark,
I know that it was the factory installation, as it had not been apart unitl my evaporator was leaking. That is why the evaporator housing is partially apart in the second picture.

          Thank you!

Would you also take a look at my other thread from today about the expansion valve attachment?

            Mark,
I have a picture of the the expansion valve support, but it shows the expansion valve, but not a good view of the clamp. I will look tomorrow and see if I can get a better view. This will be a 72 clamp and cant be totally sure they did not change it from 70.

              Mark,

Did you get the answer to your question? I have two late 69s. I believe neither expansion valve or the insulation has ever been apart on either car. The line from the expansion valve goes into the front of the insulation (under) and the tube coming from the expansion valve must loop around under the insulation or inside the evaporator/blower box as the end of the temperature sensor can be seen at the front edge of the insulation near where the tube enters under the front edge of the insulation. I can text you pictures if you still need help.

                Howard,

Thank you for the follow up. The expansion valve, POA and evaporator box is installed and looks very similar to Ed's photos above. The small clamp attaching the expansion valve to the evap box was the hardest piece to find.
