    Original Cogged Throttle Bushings

Does anyone know if the cogged rubber throttle bushings in my pictures being reproduced? Is the large plastic sleeve in my picture the correct sleeve for the cogged rubber bushings pictured? How will the currently reproduced solid rubber bushing and smaller plastic sleeve do in flight judging?

There were actually 3 different bushings over the 1963-67 period.

Bushing GM #6257135 was used for 1963 through early 1964. It was replaced for PRODUCTION by bushing GM #3854399 which was then used through 1967. While the 6257135 was once available in SERVICE, the 3854399 never was so-available. My guess is that the 6247135 and/or the 3854399 were the "cogged" bushings.

The GM #6257135 was discontinued from SERVICE in October, 1963 and replaced by GM #3794377. I cannot find that the 3794377 was ever used in PRODUCTION but I would not rule out the possibility that it was.

The GM #3794377 remains available in SERVICE from GM to this very day.

Thnaks Joe. My understanding before you commented was the cogged bushing was used in production up theough 1967 when it was replaced by the solid bushing. With the cogged bushing there may have been a smaller plastic sleeve used early in production, switching to a larger plastic sleeve very late in its use in production. I just want to make sure my car is correct for judging in May. The TIM&JG is very vague on this item. There is no referance to the color or shape of the bushing/sleeve that I can find. I just dont want to be surprized whichever bushing I decide to use!

          Pat,

If you use the larger more transparent bushing and not the smaller white bushing you will be surprised by a deduction.

With a small flanged white sleeve and a solid rubber bushing on my car right now I think I will just leave things alone.

Patrick, yes leave it alone unless you have a cogged one. My past research showed it sb cogged & small white bushing however I never found a cogged one, except for the worn out one on car, which I replaced with solid nice looking one.
More important, assure the accelerator lever is pointing in correct direction, carb v FI are different and an easy spot. (based upon 64 car)

                Patrick------

There were two sleeves over the 1963-67 period. The first was GM #3707713. I believe this is the smaller, white plastic sleeve. According to GM, it was used in PRODUCTION from 1963-67. However, I suspect not although I'm sure it was used for 1963-65. The 3707713 was discontinued from SERVICE in November, 1965 and replaced by the GM #3866271. This is the slightly larger, "translucent" sleeve. I suspect that it was likely the one used in PRODUCTION for 1966-67 but I can't say that for sure.
