1968 Fan Clutch Nuts or studs

Is there any new information regarding attachment of the fan to the fan clutch for 1968 L-36 motors with the Schwitzer fan clutch. I have a 37,000 mile car and the clutch is starting to wobble so I'm sending it out to be restored. My car was built April the 10th and the clutch I just removed is dated 3-15-68 SC also it has the straight fins so I'm reasonably sure it's the assembly line part.
The fan was attached to the clutch with bolts and lock washers but the current 5th edition of the judging guide says that the fan is attached to the clutch with black plated studs , nuts, and split ring lock washers. I'd like to make sure that it's done correctly. So do I stick with the bolts or have studs installed? Thanks Rich

    Rich,
Page 169 of the judging guide states that all 1968 and 1969 through spring were attached with black plated hex head bolts and split ring lock washers. After that studs were used. My early '69 has bolts not studs. Never had any troble in judging.

      Jeff,
That's for attaching the fan clutch to the water pump. I'm asking about attaching the fan to the clutch. See page 170 Par. three of the current guide.

I think it depends on the particular fan clutch. The GM #3937771 "pie pan" clutch that was used on L-36 and some small blocks used bolts for attachment of the fan blade assembly. I believe that all 3937771 were configured this way. On the other hand, the GM #3916139 small block clutch and GM #3916141 big block clutch used studs and nuts for fan blade attachment.

I'm sorry, I read your post incorrectly. My fan is also attached with bolts, not studs. The clutch, fan, and bolts are original to the car. Sorry for the mixup.
