Greenville National Hotel Rooms - More Rooms

Thanks Gary and Vinnie. Now comes another problem! I just registered for the Nationals, easypeasy, but I was advised buy the host hotel that they are all filled up. Something is amiss. Today is the first day of reg and release of the block at the Embassy Suites. The hotel people told me the hotel is booked up and has been for sometime, under the Nats block. Anyone have any ideas. Calif. is a long plane ride to wind up homeless
    in Greenville. WaWaWa!

    Ed,

It's been my experience in managing 3 Conventions that there are members that book more than 1 room "on the come" for themselves and their mates on the premise that they might attend the Convention. Then in June they'll cancel the rooms.

    Just sayin',

Gary, I understand, that happened at two Nationals I attended, I just feel it is poor practice for those of use who have to travel
from one coast to the other, AS A VOLLUNTEER!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel block at the Embassy Suites opened up this morning at 9:00am eastern time. If you tried to reserve a room earlier than that likely they told you that the room block was full. If you tried to register after that time and were told they were full then that's truly the case. There is a secondary hotel that National is using (Crowne Plaza Greenville). Details on how to secure a room at the Crowne Plaza is in the January-February 2019 issue of The NCRS Driveline (page 89).

Good luck and I'm Looking forward to seeing you in July!

Tom, I registered on Feb 1, the first date one could register for the National. I did not see any info relating to the room blocks release. I called the hotel on the same date and was able to get a room two days July 12 & 13, but was told every room in the block from the 14 to 18 July was taken. I will call the hotel this AM (Feb 2) to see if there is any joy.

Ed, I called at 8:30 am EST on 2/1 and was told that their computer would not allow a reservation under COR till 9:00 am EST. I called back at 9:00 am EST and booked a room with no problem. In on 7/14 and out on 7/18. The phone number I called took me to central reservations not to the hotel reservation desk.

            Good luck!

Reba, I found a Hilton Garden Inn less than a mile away from the Embassy, better rate for all of the days I wanted. The Crown Plaza was all sold out. The old saying about poor planning results in ---- etc. etc. I used the Marine Corps., (adapt and overcome) method of problem solving, works every time, all is good now.

As Gary said lots of folks take up rooms for their friends and then cancel later. We have the same situation at our regional where folks book rooms and then cancel when t is too late for another person to get the room. Not sure what the solution is.

I think with the online registration used now, a small modification to it would allow it to issue a code that the registrant has to have before he gets a room block. That or set it up to send a message to the hotels with the room blocks that ole Gary, Joe, Doc Mike, etc has registered and is eligible to reserve a room.

That might be better if you are not staying for the entire meet. I did that at the Warwick National, and avoided the 3 hour wait to check in the host hotel. Walked right into my room at the Hilton Garden Inn a mile or so away on Sunday and left Tuesday. I may do that at this one too..

It would be interesting to know how many had booked more than one room. I know of someone that got a room at the host motel because he had a friend that had booked several rooms. I was also told that the host was booked by 11:30.

We (NCRS) need to find a better system. Kay and I spent many hours on the computer to register and verify the members for the Road Tour. Then, I see the Hotel issues, not nice.

Good evening! I apologize to each and every person who has been unable to get a room at the Embassy Suites and/or Crowne Plaza hotel. I arranged for these room blocks and both hotels have given us the maximum number of rooms from their available inventory. I have secured additional rooms at the Holiday Inn Express on Woodruff Rd. beginning Sunday, July 14 as well as the Microtel on Woodruff Rd. Both of these properties are located within a half mile of the Embassy Suites and just around the corner from the Crowne Plaza hotel. To make your reservation at either of the properties, please go to www.staysmartgreenville.com for Holiday Inn Express and www.microtelinn.com/hotel28359.

I ASSURE each of you that the hotel registration process has been just as frustrating for me as it has been for you. If you need further assistance in getting a room, please contact me personally (but not tonight!) and I will assist you in any way that I can.
