What are your goals with the car?
Judging? Driving? Both?
None of the systems currently offered are ideal or perfect from a judging standpoint, but many are quite useful from a driving and usage perspective.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: 1968 427 (390hp) Automatic Exhaust system
A year or ago I installed a welded system from Corvette Central on a '70 and it went in extremely easily. I think it took less than an hour to do the whole thing. I do have a lift so that made it much easier. The car was judged at a regional and it got a deduction, as expected.

Re: 1968 427 (390hp) Automatic Exhaust system
Gary,
With my '68, I used Allen's Stainless Exhaust https://www.allencorvetteexhaustsystems.com/ At that time time their system was very good and judged very well however you will receive a deduction. There is not a supplier that does it perfectly. You might be surprised who Allen's supply exhaust systems to. Be sure to do some research. Unlike when they were first made 50+ years ago, your exhaust system will last a long time.

Re: 1968 427 (390hp) Automatic Exhaust system
I have used a number of carbon steel systems from Corvette Central for C1's, C2's and C3's. Easy installation with or without a lift. Reasonably priced. Great sound. You might want to invest in the correct clamps for judging; what typically comes with the system is not correct. Getting ready to order another system for a 69 427/390hp.- Top

Re: 1968 427 (390hp) Automatic Exhaust system
Nice. I hear and read numerous "favorites" among us on just which manufacturer and which system is best for driver cars and judged cars. Most positive opinions I've heard are between Corvette Central and Gardner. Several endorsements for CC haves been made here. I'll throw support for the Gardner system. My experience with shipping/receiving, packaging, assembly, sound/appearance in the Gardner product were all top notch. My'72 SB convertible has been judged twice at high levels with minimal deducts and I'm quite happy with judging results.
I have no experience with the CC system, therefore, I can't compare the two. Does anyone have parallel experience?Don Lowe

For reference here's a CC system installed on my '69. Fits pretty well but I did have to wrestle with the pass side muffler and hanger.
