    1972 Survivor Front Suspension Pics?

Have my motor and trans out and am in the process of going thru the entire front suspension. Possible someone can point me to survivor suspension pics for a 72 (or similar year)? Would very much appreciate it.

Interesting that the lower control arm shaft hardware (bolts, washers) look like they are painted black. I thought natural. Or maybe just the flash in the pic. Top the same? Thanks again!

You won't have to look far to find restorations where they are natural. But the control arms were assembled and painted as a unit. It's not the flash.

Wow, those are great. You can really see where the paint spray pattern was heading in those pics. Shaft must have gotten slightest bit of overspray in the process.

My thoughts on those photos -

I think the black you see on the washers was added later in life. See the black paint over the chipped paint in the second photo? Someone tried to spruce up the car at some point, and it is noticeable.

Lower a-arms do not tend to have the washers painted.
If an A-arm has the washers and bolts painted, the shaft will be painted as well. In Leonard's photo, the shaft is bare. Another clue.

I have to defer to Patrick as this is his turf. He's cleared some of the cobwebs for me as I now recall there are paint coverage differences between midyears and bumper cars. Midyears are gloss black including the bushings, bolts and washers, shafts. Ball joints were installed at final assembly. The C3s differ as to what is painted and what is not. My bad. Sorry, I should keep to my own neighborhood.

My car was never cleaned except by me. I've gone through everything and there was no evidence that any parts on the front end were touched. I found a couple issues in other areas, but there is No "spray bomb" restoration, hand painted washers or Reproduction stickers. Here are more "clues" for you.

                            Beautiful car.

In the photos I've included above, it's "not typical" to see the bare shafts with painted washers on the ends.
Both photos show bare (unpainted) cross shafts.
In addition, the upper right corner of the second photo appears to show paint that peeled and then had black paint reapplied.

Based only on photos, it is not what I would normally expect to see in either case.

If nothing else, I wanted Darren to know that the shaft/washer paint appearance is not how I would restore a car if I was after a typical appearance.

                              Leonard and Patrick,

I really appreciate your input as well as the sharing of some excellent photos. This is a huge help.

Also, at the last MCACN a 500 mile 72 Vette made an appearance. Incredible car. It is owned by a gentleman local to me. I got a few photos of it at the show but am hoping to see more of it we the arctic chill is over.....
